RULES FOR THE 2008

“SACK OF ST. AUGUSTINE” ENCAMPMENT

We are creating a “period” encampment to allow participants and visitors to taste life in Florida circa 1668.  We appreciate your cooperation in minimizing the intrusion of modern life into the encampment.

Appropriate “period” garb is required for all participants in this Event, both in camp and during the battle in downtown St. Augustine.

Only “period” tents are permitted at Fountain of Youth Park.

Please do not display any “skull-and-crossbones.”  This symbol was not used by buccaneers during this period.

No modern cigarettes are allowed in public areas.

No modern eyeglasses are allowed in public areas.

Please do not leave “non-period” items in a visible location in camp (e.g., beer/Coke cans, water coolers, silly wooden chairs, etc.).  The encampment will be open to the public, so please keep non-period items in your tent, where the items aren’t visible.

Appropriate “period” eating, drinking, and cooking equipment will be required in the public areas of the encampment.  Again, the encampment will be open to the public, so please keep non-period items in your tent, where the items aren’t visible.

Motor vehicles are not allowed in the field and camp areas at Fountain of Youth Park from 8AM Saturday, March 3, through dawn Sunday, March 4.  Vehicles may enter Friday, March 2, to unload equipment.  Once unloaded, they must be parked in the designated areas (visitor parking lot or service area).

“Period” garb and drinking vessels are required at the evening jollification at the Fountain of Youth Park following the battle in downtown St. Augustine on Saturday, March 3.

If you have allergies (e.g., medicine, food, bug/snake bite, plants, etc.) or other medical conditions, please notify an Event marshal before or at the beginning of the Event.

Please treat all Fountain of Youth Park property with respect – we are guests.  Do not harass/aggravate/molest the Fountain of Youth Park emu, peacocks, geese, ducks, etc.

If you have questions, please contact us at: info@searlesbucanneers.org.
